Daily Grains Weekly Update

We trialed a loaf pan version of our Honey Oat Sourdough Bread.

Good morning! 

It’s been awhile since we’ve talked about the values behind Daily Grains, and we want to make sure you know what you’re getting when you buy from us. When we began our bakery in 2022, we focused on three foundational pillars to guide our decisions: Flavor, Nutrition, and Sustainability.

Flavor: You can taste the difference, and the credit goes to the whole grains there. We mill our flour fresh every time, and usually, that’s the day before we make our baked goods. I don’t think you can find fresher flour at any bakery, anywhere, and we take pride in that. 

Nutrition: We use a stone mill that grinds the entire grain (aka 100% whole grain), rather than sifting off the bran pieces. Using the freshest flour possible also means we’re using the most nutritious flour possible. We use high-quality (organic/regenerative) bread flour to improve texture and loft, but we aim to make our breads as “whole grain” as possible.

Sustainability: While sustainability is usually thought of in relation to the environment, I’ve come to think of it as also being connected to our community. When we can buy local, we do. When we can buy organic or regenerative, we do. We also sometimes partner with farmers to not only get our grains but also some of our other ingredients (fresh herbs, for example). There’s no Daily Grains without our partners and customers.
