Good morning! This week, we want to share an update on our new storefront project at 707 South Public Road.

Last week, we received what we hope is the final iteration of review comments from the city as part of our project's Site Plan and Architectural Review (SPAR). There are a few minor requests in this round, but one of the more notable ones is an ask for us to update our documents to include the recently completed engineering plans for the city's planned improvements for the streetscape and alleyway for the 700 block of South Public Road.

That is actually a welcome update since it means that the city is investing in improvements in the alley and along the 8-foot strip of land it owns next to the sidewalk along the entire length of the 700 block that fronts South Public Road. Along with our project, there is a planned pocket park at 701 South Public Road where the city recently demolished the dilapidated building that it purchased from the Lafayette Urban Renewal Authority within the past year. Design is currently underway for that project.

The next step will be presenting our project to the Planning Commission, and we will either be doing that at the Wednesday, September 24 meeting or the following meeting on October 7. We will be asking for anyone who wishes to show support for our project to email a public comment or join us in person at city hall when we present our project. We will provide all the details once we are confirmed for the upcoming agenda.
